Task & implementation: The study was looking at the ecological integrity of the section of the Mokolo River, below the Mokolo Dam, close to Lephalale. This was in relation to the proposed sand mining activities. The study was done in 2 parts. Overall the ecological integrity of the aquatic system was looked at in terms of Riparian vegetation (RVI – Riparian Vegetation Index), Macro invertebrates (SASS 5 – South African Scoring System version 5) and fish (FRAI – Fish Response Assessment Index & FAII – Fish Assemblage Integrity Index).
